These are some of the newer device models for hardware recommended for use with your Visitor, Member, or Student tracking software.
Dymo 550 Turbo is the latest generation of Dymo Labelwriter. It has a very fast response time and is very easy to work with.
Software: All compatible Dymo printers (450, XL, 550) require the Dymo Connect software found here.
Paper: Dymo printers can use adhesive, expiring, or continues labels.
Acuant Scanshell 800dx scans the drivers license and extracts the photo, name, address, gender, date of birth, and license number via optical character recognition (OCR). Requires the Acuant SDK found here.
Pros: Saves an image of the entire ID and extracts profile photo. Works without the software on screen.
Cons: Data may have typos due to limitations with OCR. Processing time is 3-5 seconds.
Xenon 1950GSR reads the barcode from a drivers license and sends the name, address, date of birth, and license number to the software.
Pros: Most intuitive device for visitors. Quick processing time (<1 second). Works without the software on screen. Available in USB or Bluetooth.
Cons: No photo extraction. Technician required for installation.
PC Prox Plus reads RFID/Smart proximity (125kHz & 13MHz) cards and provide a number of custom configuration choices.
Pros: Very easy to use for members to use with their badges. Quick processing time (<1 second). Multiple form factors available.
Cons: Requires the software to be on screen. USB only.
Voyager XP 1470g reads common 1D & 2D barcodes and is exceptionally easy to use. It requires no setup or drivers.
Pros: Quick processing time (<1 second). Durable. Low Price. Available in USB or Bluetooth.
Cons: No photo extraction. Requires the software to be on screen.
